Watch videos that came from analyzing trends, drafting ideas, filming behind the camera, and/or talking to talent with a team just as passionate as me.
Has talent canceled last minute? Did it suddenly start to pour on an outside shooting day? No day as a Social Media Student Specialist looks the same. My team and I have become experts in strategizing alternative plans for our worst case scenarios in the heat of the moment, like pivoting from an outside video to an inside video with backup talent.
Creating content for Instagram and TikTok requires staying ahead of trends and seizing those eureka moments to create your own. This means going further than creating graphics, but capitalizing and adapting to the latest trends, like leveraging the popular mini-mic trend and incorporating UD's shared lingo to create a "UD Spelling Bee" mini-mic video.
As a student in this role, I had the shared experience of knowing what resonates and what doesn't on social media with UD's younger audience. using this knowledge and adapting to trends could lead to creating funny UD Valentine's Day Cards or filming a "Hot to Go" TikTok that made a splash online because the audience found them fun to engage with.
Through trial and error, I learned the importance of tracking brand metrics through platforms like Brandwatch, optimizing content for SEO, and creating relevant content that shares UD's brand identity through its visual style and core values of committing itself to a vibrant community focused on educating the whole person.
